Ride to Mount Diablo

um dia / 249 milhas / 6 horas 16 minutos

April is great time of year to visit Mount Diablo to view the poppies and wildflowers set against green hills and blue skies. Pack a "bag" lunch and meetup at Jamestown HD at 8:30, kickstands up at 9am. The route avoids the major freeways with scenic riding along River Rd, Tesla Rd, Collier Canyon Rd, Camino Tassajara Rd, and Marsh Creek Rd. There is a short 5 mile leg on Hwy 580 inbound, and 5 miles of Hwy 5/Hwy 4 outbound. We will spend two hours at Mount Diablo with our first stop at Rock City to enjoy a picnic lunch followed by a short and easy hike to the sandstone formations and caves. Restrooms are available at the Live Oak campground adjacent to Rock City. Afterward, we will ride to the summit for a fantastic 360 degree view of the bay area. There is also a small museum and restrooms. The ride is 248 miles and we'll arrive back before sunset. There are two rest/gas stops in each direction. Chapter Open Ride.
